CO-OP SERVICE PROJECTS

September 2018 Service Projects

September 30, 2018

Volunteer projects ran for three weekends throughout the month of September

September 3rd; Labor Day Fair Setup

With all the activities and fun surrounding our Labor Day Fair, a call was sent out asking for volunteers to help set up the different activities and help manage them as well.

Volunteers helped with:

  • Setting up around 30 canopies
  • Setting up tables and chairs
  • Setting up carnival games
  • Setting up bounce houses
  • Managing carnival games

They also helped with the cleanup crew once the carnival ended.

September 15th; Yard Work and Sod Prep

Volunteers met at the home of one of our members in Salt Lake City to prepare their yard for laying sod.

They dug out the yard near the house and cleaned out the window wells. They also helped remove weeds and rocks that were in the way and trimming the bushes around the front of the house.

72 Volunteer hours completed today!

September 19th; Moving Desks

A brief call was sent out after working hours requesting help in transporting two large work desks to their needed locations.

The desks were located in different buildings and crews of about four volunteers were able to help transport each one.

September 20th; One Year Anniversary!!!

The following is a message sent from the Coordinators of the Service Projects Group.

Today marks one year from when the Co-op Service Projects Group began!! Our Volunteers have completed close to 70 projects BIG & small!
The men, women, & children who've participated have spent thousands of combined hours volunteering their time & talents in service to our fellow members.
We want to sincerely thank each volunteer who has participated & helped make a success of these organized projects! It could not happen without each of you who have given your time in service. Especially those who have volunteered so much of your time to come on several projects!
It's been wonderful to get to work together with everyone this past year.
As we move forward into this next year, I hope that we can continue with the spirit of service that the Lord meant for each of us to include in our lives.
I pray that the spirit in the group can remain positive and be a welcoming place that encourages others to serve and that the ones who receive the help can show that appreciation to our volunteers.
We hope that the Service Projects can continue to be a place where the spirit of the Lord can dwell & continue to be a productive use of our young people's time & effort.
Thanks again to every volunteer, & also every homeowner who has let us help with their project!
When we are in service of our fellow man, we are only in the service of our God. We hope to be able to serve in a way pleasing to the Lord.

September 29th; Assembling a Shed For an Elderly Member

A few strong volunteers worked to help one of our elderly members assemble a tool shed in his yard.

A special thank you again to everyone who puts forth the effort to make these Service Projects a success. All of us eagerly look forward to what the next year will bring for the Service Projects Group.
